In the following profile, you will see that the numbered questions ask you to answer "yes" or "no". Next to each question, click the answer that best describes your personal situation. If you are unsure about your answer, leave it blank, but try to answer all seven questions as accurately and as honestly as you can.

1. Are you unable to lose weight despite repeated dieting attempts and a regular exercise program? Yes No

2. Are you taking one or more the the following medications: hormone replacement therapy (HRT), antidepressants (specifically a class of drugs known as "SSRIs" or tricyclic antidepressants), diabetic medications, steroids, blood pressure drugs, or antiseizure medications? Yes No

3. Have you recently experienced two or more of the following symptoms: intolerance to cold and changes in temperature; fatigue; constipation; skin that is dry, coarse, or pale; hoarseness in your voice; thining hair; poor memory; difficulty concentrating? Yes No

4. Measure your waist with a tape measure positioned one inch above your navel. Is your waist measurement greater than 35 inches if you are a woman or greater than 40 inches if you are a man? Yes No

5. At your last annual physical, were you told by your doctor that you have three or more of the following conditions: high blood pressure, elevated triglycerides (150 or higher), low HDL cholesterol (less than 50), or elevated blood sugar? Yes No

6. Do you tend to gain weight primarily around your hips and thighs? Yes No

7. (Women only) Have you recently experienced two or more of the following symptoms: mood changes, tender breasts, menstrual (bleeding) changes, dryness in genitals, hot flashes, or excessive sweating? Yes No

Interpreting Your Score
If you truthfully answered "yes" to two or more of these questions, this quite possibly indicates that you are weight loss resistant. In reality, there is only one way to find out for sure, and that is through extensive medical assessment and testing.
