Adopted on Monday, September 10, 2007, from a Dog Rescue facility in Coeur d'Alene.
We are calling him LeeTzi in honor of the Ancient Daoist Sage Lieh-Tzu. We picked this spelling and pronunciation because Americans make diminuative names ending in the 'ee' sound. Plus, when we call him across the park, the 'ee' sound will project better than 'oo'. And then, maybe ending in Tzu would sound too much like Sue and that might cause some gender confusion. So, acceptable spellings are: LeeTzi, Lee-Tzi, and Leetzi.
We left Bellevue a little after 6am on Monday morning. Why so early? Well, we wanted to be back in time for class at church that evening. So, off we went. Jan loaded up the CD player with an audio story. The sun appeared to be up somewhere, but heading to the mountains there was no direct view. Coming into Moses Lake, two hours later, we saw the School busses picking up kids for school. After passing Spokane, we stopped for breakfast at McDonalds. It was a little after 10am, and I was anxious about breakfast still being served. But it was, and by the time we had finished breakfast the lunch menu was available. We called to say we were about 20 minutes out, and headed for the border. The rendezvous was at Petco up off of I95. There, after a few moments, arrived the little dog, and a very teary adoption proceeded. Then it was off to Washington again, a quick fill-up, and back to I90. The first stop was at almost 2pm at a rest-stop. Potty breaks for all, plus a little stroll about the area. Then off West again, stopping at Moses Lake for a quick drive-through at another McDonald's. Oh, did someone get pieces of a Big Mac? Yummy! We hit home around 5pm. That was 610 miles in 11 hours.
Then there was exploration of the new home. A big pillow to sit on, a dinner and water bowl. Then a stroll around the yard with encouragements to use it. Photos to the computer and photos going out on e-mail, plus calls to say we made it. Then a quick snack and off to Petco in Bellevue. A stylish new collar, and then off to class. A big welcome to the new Kaylin family member. Then, after class, a quick introduction to the playmates. Then back home for new explorations and beddy. He slept through the whole night.
Jeff takes Leetzi to work with him. He goes the six miles in his stylish car seat, with a hand patting his tummy almost all the way. Jeff rarely calls him Leetzi, as the name "Pig" seems more appropriate. And, if you don't believe me, look at this: the third hit on Google Images for "black and white pig." I also have a couple movies here. They are Quicktime, and about 6MBytes each, and about half a minute each, so don't click unless you have the bandwidth to load 'em. Car arrives in the Garage and Mommy comes into the House.
